Take control of your life

Hypnotherapy is a holistic therapy which is completely safe, relaxing and enjoyable. If you are ready to make some positive changes in your life, this effective technique can be used to stop smoking, lose  weight, cope with chronic pain, deal with stress, increase your confidence and much more.

Throughout my career I have always helped people to discover the skills to empower them to take control and make positive changes in their lives. Hypnotherapy can be used to help with the way we think, feel, react and behave. It can also improve attitudes and performance helping you to live life to the full! In 2002 I specialised in helping people stop smoking. Due to demand I increased the range of services to include a whole host of challenges listed below.

Stop smoking
Since 2002, I have helped over a hundred people successfully stop smoking with hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). To stop smoking the vast majority of people only need a single two hour session! This includes a consultation looking at the reasons why you smoke and most importantly why you want to stop.
Weight Management

I am licensed Hypnothin© Consultant helping people achieve their ideal target weight in just three, one to one sessions over the course of a month. Clients also have the option of hypnotic gastric band therapy free of charge. The first session includes a consultation and can take up to an hour and a half. Within these sessions we will look at the barriers that have been preventing you from reaching and maintaining your desired weight, shape and size and help to break these down and check your progress.

Cope with chronic pain
Chronic pain is defined as pain that persists for more than three to six months from onset. I am a practitioner in Hypnoesitherapy which is a unique pain control method which uses hypnotherapy to help create a pain free state. Depending on the individual, a single session can suffice and for others it may take additional sessions.
Reduce stress

Hypnosis is a great way to learn how to relax. You will learn how to relax both mentally and physically and I will also teach you self-hypnosis so you can use these skills in your daily life or whenever you need them. Generally four sessions are required, although everyone is different and some people may need more, but this would be discussed and agreed between us. The first session will include a free consultation and will be approximately one and a half hours. Subsequent sessions up to an hour.

Testimonal after having a Hypnotherapy Taster Session:-

I just wanted to write and say a big thank you for the hypnothereapy session today. It was amazing! I’ve never been hypnotised before, and wasn’t sure what to expect. I have never felt so relaxed and at ease in my whole life! I will be more than happy to recommend people take up your free, no obligation taster session. Very best regards Rob  September 2017

What is hypnotherapy and how does it work?

Hypnotherapy is a holistic therapy. During the sessions, an equal amount of time is spent dealing with problems at a conscious level and a subconscious (hypnosis) level. The hypnosis level is a completely natural relaxed state similar to daydreaming, you are in control the whole time and just experience a feeling of wellbeing and relaxation. The subconscious level controls our habits, our emotions, long term memory and imagination. Our imagination is extremely powerful in causing emotion and reaction, so it is important to use it positively. In the relaxed state known as hypnosis, we can communicate directly with the subconscious mind; this is why it is so quick and easy to change lifelong habits through this.

Will hypnosis work for me?

The vast majority of people can be hypnotised and achieve successful results. However, if you suffer with a mental health problem, it is advisable to check with your doctor if hypnosis is suitable for you. People under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs cannot be treated with hypnotherapy.

How will I know if I am hypnotised?

Most people cannot tell the difference between the hypnotised and the waking states – some people feel relaxed and lethargic, others experience a feeling of lightness. For some people they compare the feeling to that of daydreaming. One thing that people do notice is an inexplicable change in their daily behaviour to implement positive change.

Is hypnosis safe?

Hypnosis is completely safe. You are aware and in control at every moment and can terminate your session at any time. Hypnosis is not sleep, nor can you get ‘stuck’ in the state of hypnosis. You cannot be made to do something against your will. Hypnosis is a safe, relaxing and enjoyable experience.

I would like to say thank you very much for the hypnotherapy sessions. I was ‘at the end of my tether’ as they say. The sessions were excellent and worked very well. The practice at home helped enormously, as did the talking and hypnotherapy during my visits. I have gained so much in confidence and self-esteem. Working out how to deal with myself and my relationship with others has been very successful – again thinking these through before acting. It is all now a work in progress. I would highly recommend anyone to try hypnotherapy for any of the above and also other things which can’t always be resolved totally by medical interventions.

Val, 2013 – she still uses the techniques today to help with everyday life.

I’ve been struggling with anxiety and a lack of confidence for most of my life.  I decided to give hypnotherapy a go after meeting Shelley and I’m so relieved I did!  After just 3 sessions I felt much more in control of my life, and much more able to deal with things if I began feeling anxious. If I compare now to how I felt before the hypnotherapy sessions, I am now far more able to embrace new opportunities and situations calmly and with more confidence.  It has also had a positive effect on things (which I didn’t really consider), such as in my relationship.  Being more relaxed means that me and my boyfriend are really able to enjoy our time together, even more so than before.  I would highly recommend Shelley, who is not only a great hypnotherapist, but also a lovely and supportive person.

CM, 2017

Coming up to the first anniversary of being a non smoker – to be honest I do find it difficult to remember that I actually smoked. For a couple of weeks after stopping smoking, I sometimes suddenly had a strong feeling that I had forgotten to do something. I soon realised the ‘thing’ I had forgotten to do was to roll a cigarette, although I can honestly say I was never tempted enough to actually do it. Interestingly it wasn’t actually smoking but the making of the cigarette that some part of me missed most. That said this period past very quickly and I must say I was surprised that I really didn’t need to use the affirmations you gave me. From day one I have been a non smoker.

What else can I say? Well apart from thanks once again for giving me that control back, it is now so history!
PS Can you help with interview phobia”? Sammy
She came for a session, had a successful job interview and happily accepted the job offer.

Update February 2017 (since 2004, and bang up to date (2017) I haven’t had a cigarette even near these lips.

I had probably only recently started singing with the jazz band that I’m still in when I consulted you. We’re still going strong and my voice has improved considerably. I’m 99.9% sure I would not still be singing (or breathing!) if I hadn’t stopped smoking. So, still thankful to you”
